This meeting will be our monthly competition. All photos (time permitting) will be critiqued.
Each member present can also join in by voting for his/her favorite two photos from each class. See the instructions for “popular voting” below.
Photo Competition
Classes 1 and 2 Judges Allen Irby, Bill Bunton, Phil Hawkins with Moderator Mark Laussade
We held a critique-only meeting on October 3, 2019, and it was a big success. Mark Laussade recruited four judges, all of whom are club members. Mark moderated the judging with three judges per class. For each photo, three judges gave each photo a rating, and these ratings were used to determine the winners. One of the three voting judges gave a critique of the photo.

When all photos in each class were rated, the winners were chosen using their ratings. In the case of a tie, the judges voted again on the tied images.
The judging for the November 7 meeting will be very similar, with multiple judges chosen from the NAPfS membership.
Popular Voting
We’re going to try a new method for popular voting at this meeting. The voting will be via a website whose address (URL) will be revealed at the meeting. You can use a browser on your smart device or laptop. The voting page shows the photos from all three classes. You will also be able to see the results as the voting occurs. The results are not updated in real-time, but are available when you refresh your browser page.
It has not yet been determined whether each person can cast only one vote per class, or multiple votes. If multiple votes are allowed, please vote no more than twice per class (honor system).
This voting page is not on the napfs site, nor will there be a link to it. The reason for the page not being on the napfs site will be explained at the meeting.

This is a free, public meeting so invite a buddy! but we encourage all to join the club if you regularly visit. Because then you get to enter our competitions and participate in other club activities!

Submission Deadline: Midnight, Saturday, November 2, 2019
September’s digital competition theme is “Unusual Suspects”. Only NAPfS members can submit up to two images of your choice, provided the images were taken no earlier than 2 years ago.
Please review the new guidelines and select the class that you most closely qualify for. For more info, read this post about classes.
The monthly NAPƒS digital competition is meant to be fun, inspirational, and educational. The judging and associated critiques are positive, supportive, and will be a useful learning tool.
You must join NAPƒS to take part in 2019 competitions. The cost of membership is only $24, and your annual contribution is used 100% in support of club operations and activities.

The North Austin Pƒotographic Society will be electing its 2020 Club Officers at this meeting. Any 2019 club member in good standing may be nominated as an officer.
