Speaker – Randy Dykstra on Photographing Wildlife
Randy has traveled all over the world including South Africa, the Great Barrier Reef, the North Shore of Alaska, the European Alps, and all over North America. For the last several years, he has made animals and wildlife a priority subject, so will be sharing his photos and insights on what it takes to photograph animals/wildlife.

January’s digital competition theme is Open. You can select any theme of your choice, provided the images were taken no longer than 2 years ago. Randy Dykstra, 2019 club VP, and our speaker for the evening, will be the judge.
Submissions are divided into three classes – Class 1 (novice), Class 2 (intermediate), and Class 3 (expert). Each club member is free to choose which class to enter; however, please review the new guidelines and select the class that you most closely qualify for. For more info, read this post about classes.
The monthly NAPƒS digital competition is meant to be fun, inspirational, and educational. The judging and associated critiques are positive, supportive, and a useful learning tool.
A reminder – you must join NAPƒS to take part in 2019 competitions. The cost of membership is only $24, and your annual contribution is used 100% in support of club operations and activities.

About Randy Dykstra
Originally an electric engineer by trade, Randy began his photography adventure in the early days of darkrooms and film. An avid backpacker, scuba diver, and outdoorsman, he has turned his early love for science, the great outdoors, and photography into a thriving vocation. He leads photographic tours to exotic locales, educating and inspiring photographers of all skill levels.
In addition to his role as tour guide and mentor, he also specializes in the technical side of photography, via his Lightroom and Photoshop skills. He shares these skills in books, training workshops, and speaking engagements.
Randy is the organizer of two successful Meetup Groups (over 5500 members), an administrator to a large Facebook group (over 22,000 members) and the Vice-president of the North Austin Pfotographic Society.
