Nell Carroll

Nell Carroll is a photographer, photo editor, and teacher who’s been fortunate enough to be able to continually work with all forms of photography for 30 years. Nell is currently the Director of photography and video at The Austin-American Statesman.

While journalism has been her main career path, Nell is always open to exploring other avenues where she can use what she’s learned over the years.

Nell enjoys taking candid family portraits and travel photos and combining her love of gardening with photography, Nell uses her yard as her “studio”.

Her other passion, horses, also allows Nell to make equine portraiture, another outlet for her creativity.

January 2019 Digital Photography Contest

Reminder: We will not have a 3rd Thursday meeting  in December, so take special note to get your January contest images submitted on time. Watch for extra reminders via social media and email.

Submission Deadline: Midnight, Saturday, December 29, 2018

January’s digital photography competition theme is open themed. Randy Dykstra, our speaker for the evening, will be the judge.

2019 submissions will be divided into three classes instead of two. Each club member is free to choose which class to enter, however, we encourage all previous award winners (in any category, at any level of award) to self-select the next higher category than their 2018 choice. This will help align skill levels within each category, to make the competition more balanced.

For updated 2019 info, read this post about the three classes.

The monthly NAPƒS digital competition is meant to be fun, inspirational, and educational. The judging and associated critiques are positive, supportive, and a useful learning tool.

A reminder – you must join NAPƒS to take part in 2019 competitions. The cost of membership is only $24, and your annual contribution is used 100% in support of club operations and activities. Any payments made to enter through the end of 2018 will go in full toward your 2019 membership dues.

Read the revised rules, then submit your competition images!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all members. We have had a growing and improving year, and we all look forward to 2019 with hope and enthusiasm. Thank you for being in the club!
