Member Print Exhibition

During the Meet & Greet, Allen Irby will exhibit a selection of his printed photographs. Once the meeting starts, Allen will speak for a few minutes about his work and answer questions.

Monthly Competition

Submission Deadline: Midnight, Saturday, June 2, 2018

The theme for June’s digital competition is Oh, so close and will be judged by our speaker for the evening, Max Kelly.

Submissions are divided into two classes and each club member is free to choose which class to enter. For more info, read this post about classes.

The monthly NAPƒS digital competition is meant to be fun, inspirational, and educational. The judging and associated critiques are positive, supportive, and a useful learning tool.

A reminder – you must join NAPƒS to take part in 2018 competitions. The cost of membership is only $24 and your annual contribution is used 100% in support of club operations and activities.

Speaker – Max Kelly

Max Kelly will present his latest work documenting the production of mezcal in Oaxaca and rum in Jamaica, as well as images from a recent road trip photographing BBQ joints across Texas.  He’ll talk about his approach to shooting on location, use of natural and supplemental light, and building a story in a single frame.

About Max Kelly

Max Kelly is a food and travel photographer based in Austin, TX.  He specializes in capturing the story of a place, a dish or beverage using a mix of photographic disciplines, including still life, portrait, landscape and reportage.

His work has been published in Texas Monthly, Bon Appetit, Real Simple, Southern Living, Imbibe magazine and several cookbooks and cocktail books.
